Biomechanics and Rehabilitation Lab

The medical biomechanics and rehabilitation laboratory incorporates a number of experiments relevant to the material response to loading configurations and the mechanical properties of the materials. Besides it teaches the main parameters of medical rehab engineering parameters. It includes apparatus that serve as demonstration tools to detect and process mechanical properties of the materials as well as both ultrasound and conductive heat systems. One experiment per session is performed with 8 experiments in total.

Tensile test
Hardness test
Fatigue test
Free undammed and damped vibration.
Essential of rehab.
Effect of heat on the injured muscles and nerves.
Different approaches for different methods of heat transfer towards and reversing sides of body.
Gait analysis.

It is pointed out here that most of the experiments include a data logging capabilities where the data are automatically logged in into a PC. This feature is highlighted during the lab to acquaint the students with the use of modern technology in their jobs.
